The idea behind the name:
When considering all the individuals, musicians, artists, friends, family, and fans that surround and mold this music we decided on the name Thousand Gathered. The philosophy and goal of what we are doing is constantly evolving and growing, but the things that remain constant are the love, the support, the contributions, and the charisma of those around us. These constants are making us who we are. The individuals we meet influence our daily lives and inspire new ideas and perspectives. The musicians we work with add to and subtract from what we would otherwise create, and these relationships fuel our passion and develop our sound. The artists that develop our visual themes and perform with us bridge the gap between what is seen and what is heard. Our friends and family provide a steadiness and support system we are eternally thankful for. Our fans are our lifeblood, and the only reason we do what we do is because of the sustaining power of our street teams and fans. Most of all Thousand Gathered is a life- giving force that is continuously changing and expanding.
Kristen Chandler and Michael James Zimmerman, musical soul mates for over a decade, have come a good distance – geographically and creatively – to arrive at this place, with this band.
Mastering the songwriters’ craft, Michael and Kristen mold words, melodies, rhythms and harmonies, to express their world view and life experience – of family and friendship, of struggle and survival, of work and wonder.
The result is an eclectic tapestry of stunningly original songs, performed with infectious energy and artfulness. If you’re in the room and you’re not captivated, then you’re just not listening.
We’re travelers on a musical journey that invites the passion and creativity of everyone involved: friends, family and fellow artists who share our vision, and are invited – eagerly, enthusiastically – to share this journey with us. They’re the fellow travelers who inspire us with new ideas and perspectives…the artists that develop our visual themes, bridging the gap between what is seen and what is heard…the relationships that nurture our continued commitment to what we do, what we say, and how we play.
And thus, the name: Thousand Gathered.
A life-giving force, a Thousand Gathered: ever changing, ever expanding, and never complete.
