Hooked on drumming and rhythm since his youth, Dan Kruse is today an ever-growing percussive artist who values the challenges, the artistic diversity, and the opportunities for musical expression and contribution offered by being a part of Thousand Gathered. After a two-decade career in communications, Dan enrolled at the University of Arizona School of Music, earning a degree in Fine Arts Studies in 2006. His studies encompassed Percussion Performance, Ethnomusicology and Anthropology, including a perspective-altering two month journey across West Africa in 2004. Today, he also performs with a Tucson-area progressive jazz group and with the U of A World Music Gang, and continues to expand his repertoire of musical skills through the study of frame drum, Irish Bodhran, Indian tabla and other world percussion instruments. Dan and his wife Gina are active members of the Stone Curves co-housing community in north-central Tucson.
