Michael is a composer, musician, actor, director, producer, audio engineer, and an educator. As a young child he was recording and mixing on his father’s SONY reel-to- reels and tape recorders, playing percussion, and teaching himself guitar. Michael began performing and recording in grade school, and he had started working professionally before graduating from high school. His contribution to the entertainment industry is extensive with over 20 years of performance and recordings.
Honeybeegroove was the first successful band Michael was involved with. The band included Rusty and Matthew Morris, Chad Wiseman, Darren McSweeney, Ryan Smith, Joe Peck, and Doug Baughman. They composed, performed and toured for several years with their origin in Wichita, KS. Their debut release "Move" was to be the band's only recording project.
He taught acoustic and electric guitar, piano, and voice at Harmony Road Piano School in Eugene, OR. The guitar is Michael’s primary instrument, though he strives not to be tied down to any singular instrument or style. He has most recently studied acoustic/electric guitar under jazz guitarist Don Latarski and piano and keyboarding under Dr. John Jantzi.
Michael is proficient in studio recording as a musician/composer and an audio engineer. He studied digital audio editing and mixing under Chris Richards, Ed McManus, and Don Latarski. He has produced numerous albums, collections, archives, audio books, and presentations.

Michael was Hades in the Blue Door production titled "The Creation of the World, As We Know It." This student production staged for two performances. His acting coach in college was Judith (Sparky) Roberts, and Michael later became a performing artist under her direction.
As an actor, Michael worked on both improvisational and scripted stages. His work with the Rabble Rousers in the Pacific Northwest involved everything from political commentary and activism to live performance pieces at Universities and festivals. His work with the OFAM Magical Moombah (2004-2006) included vaudeville-style performances for children and families. Michael worked with Sylvan Duplant, Mitch Hider, Scotty Perey, Chico Schwall, and Anna Barnett under the direction of Sparky Roberts.
Working in coordination with his wife, Kristen Chandler Zimmerman, Michael produced the album "bird". This 12-song album contains compositions Michael created, arranged, orchestrated, engineered, and mixed. He worked at ETC studio (along with Kristen, Jeremy Gibons, and Rusty Morris) throughout 2005 finishing the album that was released in the beginning of 2006.
As a video producer and director Michael found his first attempt to be successful. The song Live Again from the 'bird' album was chosen for a music video. Michael recruited Bryan Jochumson, owner of Absolutely Entertaining INC, and his crew to shoot the video. Jennifer Loghry was the choreographer, and Terms created set pieces using spray paint and mixed media. Performance painter Mika Holtzinger was featured in the video as well. Michael created the story boards for the main themes, produced the project, and edited the video. He was also featured in the video playing guitar, piano, and dancing.
Michael studied African percussion, rhythms and dance at the University of Oregon under Brian West, Rita Honka, Mondjou and Salif Koné. He earned his BS in Music from the University of Oregon in 2006.
Most recently Michael has started using multi-track samplers in live performance. With this technology Michael layers percussion, guitars, piano/keyboards, and voice creating a rich texture and the sound of multiple instrumentalists. Check the Kristen Chandler calendar for upcoming performances.
